Pouring gas on fires, living off division, the news media’s full of melodrama – headlines like:

Trump, Roberts on collision course. (Loved by some, loathed by others, no one gets people’s attention like Trump – to boost their ratings Fox, CNN, MSNBC are all full of Trump stories.)

Here’s another: Trump allies out to make the Judicial branch subservient to Trump. (Anti-Trumpsters saw red when they read that one.)

Border Czar: ICE officials confident deportees are Tren de Aragua gang members. (Pro-Trumpsters cheered – mocking, anti-Trump media punched back: If he had proof why didn’t he give it to the judge?)

Harris leads ‘widely’ in 2028 primary poll. (Reading that Democrats in Washington  fell silent; Trumpsters crossed their fingers, hoping it’s true.)

Trump wanted Ukraine’s minerals – now he wants its power plants.(Pro-Trump media purred Trump’s clever. Anti-Trump media said Trump’s got Ukraine over a barrel – but plundering Ukraine’s wrong. Besides, it won’t stop Putin.

Musk makes billons off government contracts. (Musk’s fighting to cut spending but, at the same time, wants NASA to spend billions to send astronauts to Mars on SpaceX. That story was a blow to Musk.)

Trump sees allies as subordinates, sees Putin, Xi as peers. (That was a punch at Trump. On the other hand, does Trump see anyone as his peer?)

Poll says trust in media at lowest point.

We’re living through a ragged time, full of melodrama, and the news media adds to the grief. But that last headline may be a sign of hope.
